Guided Training Round ®

GTR is based on Lockheed Martin’s BDU-59B/B Enhanced Laser Guided Training Round (ELGTR). Here is a link to that product that Lockheed Martin is currently manufacturing in Archbald, Pennsylvania. Lockheed Martin has produced more than 220,000 ELGTR/LGTRs for the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps and international customers.

GTR is a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) contract that began as an Air Force Phase I SBIR and has transitioned to a NAVAIR Phase II contract. CoAspire is working with Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, and their division in Archbald, Pennsylvania to provide an enhancement to the ELGTR. If successful, this dual mode (GPS and Semi-Active Laser Guided) training round will be beneficial to US and international air forces.

CoAspire is very interested in warfighter needs for a GTR. If you are an aviator and/or PGM expert, from any service/air force who employs PGMs, please take our anonymous survey at this link.

The following is a short two-minute video about the GTR filmed at CoAspire’s Trade Show booth at Tailhook in September 2022:

THE Guided training round® HAS WON a NAVAIR PHII Sbir CONTRACT

The Navy, specifically N98, NAWCWD, NAVAIR and PEO U&W and PMA 201 have taken a leadership role as government sponsors and technical points of contact in this Phase II work. CoAspire’s technical activities are covered by comprehensive SBIR Data Rights as discussed in this SBIR Data Rights link.

The Guided Training Round® (GTR) is currently undergoing design and development of software and hardware as a derivative of Lockheed Martin’s and the Department of the Navy’s Enhanced LGTR (BDU-59B/B ELGTR).

By adding an inexpensive Commercial Off The Shelf GPS aided IMU to the ELGTR’s Semi-Active Laser seeker, and a 14” dual lug suspension system, CoAspire is developing a GTR for dual mode precision guided munition training for the Department of the Navy, and potentially the US Air Force and other international customers.
